Overview
The Challenge
Muzz's platform is great at creating matches, but that success is now sabotaging our brands promise of serious relationships and marriage.
Users are pulled in too many directions, juggling multiple chats and swipes, and it makes it hard to truly connect with one person. The “next best match” keeps stealing attention, and the potential for a deep, meaningful connection with someone special gets lost in the shuffle.
I was tasked with exploring an Exclusive Mode that allowed individuals with a genuine deep connection to keep talking without any distraction.
Solution
A clean feature with strong brand presence that helps those individuals who think they may have met the one, marriage and explore tabs are paused with the ability to exit at any point.
Results
The designs were added to the Q2 roadmap following approval by stakeholders. Results are still pending.

Research & Discovery
I wanted to validate the idea of an Exclusive Mode with our users through surveys and interviews. How many people are people usual talking to? What do they think of an Exclusivity feature? What are their current paint points on the app?
Below are the results:
There was little competitor research that had similar features but I explored apps like Pair to explore creating a more intimate app experience for those who go into Exclusive Mode.
I also led a workshop with the wider design team to explore the branding, tone of voice and any added value we could provide those who have the feature enabled.

As I started ideating and sketching flows, I realised there were many elements of the feature to think through;
How do we pick up on high quality conversations that are happening on the app?
When do we introduce the feature?
How do we introduce the feature?
How will we handle edge cases such as;
Multiple requests?
Re-requests?
How will we handle a user who is speaking to someone who then goes into Exclusive Mode with someone else?
How might we add added value to those in the Exclusive Mode Experience?
How do we allow users to leave Exclusive Mode?
So there was a lot to think through!
Presenting a few options..
The three options below all had significant drawbacks, and the final decision was to have an in-chat prompt to introduce the feature shown in the final solution.
